Open Coil Mattresses

Open Coil Mattresses are the most common and traditional way to construct a mattress. The open spring mattress composition consists of coiled springs all lined up next to each other with a thinner wire linking them all together. There is also an outer rod applied around the edges just to help hold the mattress construction together and also provide additional strength, the mattress is then stuffed with fillings to provide a comfortable sleeping surface. Open Spring Mattresses are often referred to as, 13.5 Gauge = Soft mattress, 13.0 Gauge = Medium and 12.5 Gauge = Firm. Which is completely different to the way the Pocket Spring works, where generally the larger the number the more firm the mattress it.
